1. Fiendishly Divine
2. Putrid Bacchus
3. Congregation of the Faceless
Release Date: 2011 – Self-Released
If you take a look on the bands thankslist (Mayhem, Negura Bunget, Rotting Flesh, Blasphemer for example) and the members pseudonyms (Growler, Abraxas, Simeth) you can maybe get a well forecast of what there is waiting on Incest In Heaven’s „Misbegotten“ EP.
This greek band also describes their influences with Death, Emperor, Atheist and Akercocke. Means death metal, mixed with black and technical element. Now we have to find out how this first statement works in the extreme metal world….
And „Fiendishly Divine“ starts the inferno with riffing speed and…how wonders..growled shouts. Sometimes drifting into Deicide deep. Slower hooklines break the speed sometimes and there is even something like a more melodic guitar solo. Double bass rules and some cool sound effects offers a good taste in technical death metal with some harmonies on top. Cool.
„Putrid Bacchus“ first remembers more to a black metal song, cause of the vocals and light weird istrumentation. The song starts in midtempo but is taking speed and with that it is changing to death metal sequences. Some impressions in my head say…old Samael, but it would limit the band too much. The vocals are really brutal for sure…nothing for sensitive people. Weird and mostly black smelling song.
Mighty riff in the beginning of „Congregation of the Faceless“…only short before the drums smashes it forward. Interesting guitar spins in the …refrain ?..Blasts change with stomping hooks. Deep growls, black shouts as we heard it before. A break slows it down after 3 minutes and another guitar solo in melodic style appears. The end of the song I would describe as thrash metal with growls. Interesting arrangements…
„Misbegotten“ deserves a black/death menue and it tastes bitter, sour…fleshless smelling. Technical sounds again. Highspeed drums and whirling guitars lead over to a heavy riffing in Metallica style.
Suddenly it stops and a whispering bass, guitarpart in the back makes you stopping your propeller banging. But you can continue soon until a scream direct from hell ends it.
This EP from Incest In Heaven is…for sure…nothing for whimps or hairspray fans. Brutal stuff with some melodic moments and technical death elements. All in all a good tasting black/death mix that makes it appetite for more. Fans of this genre…take a listen. It is worth doing that !!
